You can write about a model described by someone else as long as you give the source. If your source does the same thing then you will be able to follow the references back to the original. If you don't provide a source then it looks like you developed the model yourself which you did not. Just because someone else also does the wrong thing does not make what you have done right. Mistakes happen. Update your article to give the source and the problem is resolved.
